Dinner at Timbre!

Last Tuesday was my first time at Timbre! We went after work to the one at raffles place. Ambience was not bad although the weather was quite humid...yes, even at night! Should have brought my lomo UWS though...since it was still bright at 6pm.

We ordered a total of four pizzas! But there were many of us so each of us had in total 4 to 6 mini slices of pizza each. Its more like a pizza tasting gourmet conference :D

What was most impressive was the Roast Duck Pizza...its what fusion cuisine should be...exciting and tasty!

Live band was quite nice too! Cant really rmb their band name, but their lead singer, a girl in her twenties I think, had this nice and low jazzy voice!
We're going on another intern outing tmr!

Watermelon and Mint!

Thats the flavour of the shisha...XD

Just came back from our tutorial group outing at Bugis where we tried some Arab Street cuisine and shisha. Quite a good place to chill and relax. We even planned the next week's tutorial group outing LOL.

So how is the shisha experience? ok i choked on the smoke once or twice...and it tasted more like strawberry lol but overall, it was quite ok somehow haha...most of the flavour sets in after exhaling the smoke...abit like tea...

ok going to play some games now!

Kovan Superstar Report!

Kovan Superstar 2010 quarter finals was held at Heartland Mall todae! Other than the cramped conditions the audience experienced (because the mall was not big) it was quite a successful event...and Impresario 2010 Champion (for BOTH vocal solo and group categories) Ainul was a contestant too! Quality of contestants was not bad...but Ainul (=POWERHOUSE) was like clearly a cut above the rest...even the audience (in my opinion) thought so by clapping slightly louder for her...which one of the judges also noticed.

Here are some pics of the event!

Quite crowded

People watching the contestants battle it out from 2nd and 3rd floors

 Ainul the powerhouse!

during the competition, a friendly and furry creature was loitering around the mall

LOL mascots rocks!

Chicken Katsudon with Curry

Lirong joined our MS lunch group today at Amoy Street hawker centre lol and ate a few strands of noodles...met Qi Sheng as well! Kasster ate the equivalent of a noodle extra value meal...

In the evening, the tutorial group outing turned out to be quite good with many turning up! Amerlyn suggested Sushi Tei and almost everyone ordered Chicken Katsudon and Chicken Katsudon with curry...lol

ok shall share another lomo pic! on expired film!! quite pleased that i focused this correctly (more or less) lol

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Matcha Green Tea is Awesome

As awesome as the Starbucks one...XD

anyway, just commenting on the coffee bean revenue process (no system flowcharts included)

I've not bought any Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf stuff for quite awhile...so last Saturday, i bought a cup of Matcha Green Tea which, recently, is also my drink of choice at Starbucks. I think I prefer Starbucks's one, although this one's not bad either.

However, the quality of drinks is not the issue here...when I bought the drink, the counter staff asked for my name, which made me go 'HUH!?'...what does my name have to do with the order!? I refused the request...then after that I realized that its for the identification of drinks.

Ok...probably management had this idea and thought "hey! if we get sales staff to call customers by name when they collect their drinks, it would improve customer satisfaction...you know...because it sounds more friendly this way"...

In my opinion it doesn't work this way because the sales staff has to be friendly (or act in a friendly way) as well for this to possibly succeed...

Not a big issue i suppose, the drink was still awesome! The asking for customer names part was more psychologically unsettling...they could (just imaginative speculation) store those names in a database and do research on stuff like 'how many customers with certain names like to order certain types of drinks' or something like that...

Ok still not a big issue LOL

What would you do if sales staff asked for your name or private information? (or private information)? Feel free to comment!

Blog Revamp!

I've decided to keep this blog and redesign it instead of starting a new blog! In addition, blogposts that review stuff like movies or concerts will be 'outsourced' to other new blogs to avoid clutter haha...

In fact, I've spent some time working on a new movie review blog! Most or all of the movie reviews in this blog have been copied to http://yakmoviereviews.blogspot.com

Ok a bit of update now lol

Those observant enough will notice that my last substantive (substantive=epic) blogpost was in 09...this explains my busy-ness...oh wait...my busy-ness explains this...LOL...with all the Impresario stuff, 5 modules in the sem, and sleeping before 11pm

Now other than painting (which i've not been doing very often due to crazy canvas prices), I'm also into lomography which is another expensive hobby...in fact photography/lomography became sort of my extra elective this sem coz i've been researching on it during my free time LOL...

Its quite fun, addictive even, to not know how your photographs will turn out after taking them, until they are processed at the labs...this stuff is actually quite similar to trading card games, where you wouldn't know whether your rare card in the booster pack is awesome or crap...lol

I'm gonna set up another blog for my lomo films! In the meantime, here are some samples

Bought a Holga 120N from ebay...during the exam period LOL...and more recently, a White Slim Angel Ultra Wide and Slim from Action City...yes Action City! I was quite surprised they stock this range of cameras...WSA UWS is awesome stuff...simple and elegant...ULTRA WIDE 22mm power...with vignetting...

a bit underexposed, but negative films can take it!
 nice flares!
22mm power!

Holga 120N is fun to use as well, its interesting when halfway through the roll, the film support sponges inside the camera loosen and get eaten up by the film...requiring some manual tinkering which I did in a dark wardrobe to unroll the film and retrieve the sponges...however, cross processing is epic stuff...and sometimes that one awesome pic in that roll of 12 or 16 exposures is worth it...and before you ask, the black dots in the pics below are most likely caused by the rebellious sponges XD

maybe the sponges were not so bad after all!
Holga bulb mode on Swarovski crystals
 X-pro!!! :D

Ok! hope you enjoyed the pictures!
This blog is so messy now! Should I make a new one or 'renovate' this blog!?
