hallo readers! doing 2 movie reviews todae on star trek and wolverine!

iwatched startrek at the cathay and wolverine at plazasing and its quite obvious cathay cinemas pwn gv cinemas in terms of comfort and sound quality. the seats at the cathay was so spacious and they spray some kind of nice smelling scent into the cinemas and the excellent audio quality from the THX certified speakers was amazing lol...gv cinemas when compared to the cathay relli lacks in comfort...especially after watching one movie at the cathay, the gv seat felt so cramped. as it was a weekdae afternoon and the cinema was rather empty ifound another seat to avoid being cramped between 2 other ppl lol...the audio was good cinema quality but then nothing near that of cathay cinemas lol...alright im supposed to review the movies instead of cinemas haha

Star Trek

idun relli know much bout the star trek universe other than some basic knowledge for example...iknow the main starship they use was the enterprise and also that the story involved humans and some aliens called klingons haha sry if igot any facts wrong lol this movie was a remake and starred among others zachary quinto, who acted as sylar on heroes. the storyline was good but if im not wrong then itink it was more of an alternate plot. the special effects and sound effects were excellent and the pace of the movie was rather fast which suited the movie's genre. nevertheless the movie was still considered long being arnd 2hrs but there was hardly a dull moment in the movie lol

overall, itink it was a great remake and could probably attract new fans to the franchise

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

This movie is about, as you should be able to guess, wolverine lol its more of a background story of wolverine and his history...how he got the metal claws and his relationship with sabertooth and other stuff...there were also some parts of the movie featuring the younger cyclops and gambit and some other mutants. being an action movie, there were lots of special effects as well. however even though this movie was shorter than startrek, itink it was slightly draggy at some points. however, it was still a decent action movie with some awesome fight scenes.

opinions on britain's got talent!

guess ive been doing too much reviews recently lol hence this blogpost will be on britain's got talent 09!


as some of you who are following this series would know, the current season is on-going and if im not wrong i believe simon cowell said on one of the preliminary episode that this season of britain's got talent was one of the higher quality ones with lots of talents performing and ive to agree with him!

after enjoying the acts of the first 3 semi-final shows, courtesy of youtube, im gonna give some comments of mi own lol

for the first show, diversity, a dance group, and susan boyle, which most of you would already have known, made it into the finals. in mi opinion, these 2 contenders relli should be in the finals. diversity was amazing with their unique dancing style and susan boyle relli has a good voice! sue son the violinist was very talented as well but dint get into the top 3 for this show. those who had watched the preliminary shows should know that she originally performed with her 'good' friend in another act which wasnt that popular with the judges. however, simon cowell thought sue son might be better performing the violin on her own and asked her to audition another day, which she did in the end but that affected her friendship...hmm her friend should have supported her instead. the bellydancing act by julia naidenko was good as well but the judges presumed the queen of england would not enjoy this kind of performance.

for the second show, flawless, dance group, and shaun smith, singer, got into the finals. the top 3 included the gareth oliver the ventriloquist(correct spelling i hope) as well. flawless was relli near perfect for their timing and rhythm itink, but itink that they sort of copied diversity's style for this performance. in the preliminary round, flawless was more of a standard street dance group style but they did it at a high technical level. however, for this show, itink that their new style was too similar to diversity. aniwae, they are still a great dance act although personally iprefer diversity. shaun smith was good as a singer, but itink gareth oliver should be in the finals instead of him. gareth oliver was not only an excellent ventriloquist, he has an amazing voice as well, and was singing WHILE doing his ventriloquist act.

for the third show, stavros flatly, dance act, and shaheen jafargholi, singer, went through to the finals. stavros flatly got in through phone votes so theres not much to argue bout. however, in mi opinion, irelli dun understand how they could get first for votes. i'd rather prefer the md showgroup to be in the finals. the judges had to decide between md showgroup, which is a mass dance act, and shaheen jafargholi, who has a great singing voice. that was relli a tough decision to make and itink simon cowell, when asked to be the first to choose, appeared very troubled with his dilemna lol...itink md showgroup's act was very good but more importantly, they seem to be sending out positive social messages through their chaotic costume design. shaheen jafargholi sang a difficult song and which itink was given big praises from piers morgan, another judge, who said that he was one of the best singing acts this season. the judges voted for the singer then.

Concert Review!

went to esplanade with wangyi and qinpei for "the stuff of legends" concert by SSO. haha what a great concert it was...alright now on to the review!

a thing that i enjoyed about this concert was the diversity of the repertoire.

the first piece was arranged locally and is actually a familiar folk tune. it was a light piece and a great way to start the concert, and likely to prepare the audience for the more intense piece following that.

the second piece was the standard classical fare which the SSO is used to. however, the guest player wangjian was very pro! wangyi seems to be totally absorbed in the music lol. there was also a recurring melody that qinpei hummed after the concert lol

camwhored during the intermission...and the intermission was at the right time lol the second piece was some intense music...also, qinpei got to go to the toilet lol

the third piece was a contemporary piece that qinpei and mi have heard before and it was still as entertaining lol...we were having a little debate on which of the 5 movements of the piece was which element lol

the fourth piece was composed by tchaikovsky and im quite a fan of his music lol...this piece was more of theatre music but it was amazing...the strings part was just awesome

there was an encore piece as well which was performed by the guest cellist and wangyi was super excited about it coz he heard it on 92.4 before lol and he was asking for the name of the piece but qinpei and i dint know lol...

overall, a very enjoyable concert lol

this is one of the best action movies so far this yr...the story was quite ok...but this movie excels during the suspense scenes as well as the action scenes...this is one movie where the good guy totally EPIC PWN the bad guys lol

just came back from the 30hr famine camp 09 training for facilitators and game masters...

like last yr, its held at acs(barker) which itink was a good place to hold the camp

mi group had lots of LOLS during activities lol

Movie Review!

The International

lol watched this movie with wangyi jingwen yiheng before the buffet...not many movies to watch at that time lol so chose this one...

this movie started out rather well, with the main characters trying to stop some bank from selling weapons or smthing...however as the story develops...it becomes increasingly difficult to keep up with the suspense...other than some action scenes, this movie was dragging the story...and when the confounding 'twist' of the movie comes right before the abrupt starting of the credits roll, we knew that we had just wasted 6$ on a lousy movie...

crystal jade buffet!

lol had a mini-self oriented outing...went to the cathay with wangyi jingwen and yiheng to watch a movie called 'the international' which will be reviewed on this blog

after that joined leon at hollandv crystal jade restaurant for the xiaolongbao buffet!!!

relli ate alot of stuff itink we ate a combined 90+ xiaolongbaos...lol and thats excluding the other buffet stuff...lol

Movie Review!

K20: Legend of the Mask

This movie is set in an alternate future in which the war never took place (like the game red alert) and stars takeshi kaneshiro as a circus performer who got mistaken for k20, the legendary superthief lol...to clear his name, he learns the tricks of the trade and uncovers a diabolical plot which must be stopped. Along the way, he saves the princess who joins him on his quest and also gets the help of the righteous police inspector. There is an epic twist during the climax of the movie when the identity of k20 is revealed. Overall, a great jap movie which will not disappoint.

The characters find out that k20's secret plot is to activate a massive tesla coil at the top of a building which would allow him to control the city through threatening the politicians.
Although the audience were led to believe that k20 is a mysterious old man who frames the hero in the circus, that man was actually wearing another mask and the real identity of k20 is actually the police inspector!!!this is truly an epic twist in the movie lol

Bedtime Stories

this movie is a comedy starring adam sandler. he babysits 2 kids and it turns out that during their bedtime stories, wadever the kids say become fairytale reality for adam the next dae lol and these include stuff like raining candy and sweets. they also have to stop some conglomerate from tearing down their school for a new building. overall a decent movie.

Love Matters

this is a jack neo directed movie but filmed mostly in msia itink...it has the regular 'jackneoteam' casts for example marklee and henrythia lol...ive to say jackneo movies have gotten better...although his works have been less funny than when he first started directing, there is a stronger story backing the movie...nevertheless, certain moments in this movie are relli hilarious LOL overall a good movie.

love story + viva la vida = epic music

This is epic win!

Combining Taylor Swift's Love Story and Coldplay's Viva La Vida into one instrumental piece, these two musicians play out a magnificent sweeping epic aural experience...if u have subwoofer u can follow the video advice and 'activate subwoofers in 5sec' haha...

actualli i prefer the coldplay's part of the piece with the thumping rhythm haha but the contrast with the smooth melody of Love Story was great...

overall, awesome lol

beatboxing!

lol itink this is epic...beatboxers usualli dun do sounds other than percussion and this girl does it with some melody and lyrics which makes this performance quite interesting

Movie Review!

Ip Man

this movie is about ip man, also the kungfu master of brucelee. the fight scenes are relli epic and ip man uses his kungfu style of wingchun to steamroll his opponents. itink he got scratched twice in the movie...one at a chaotic factory fight scene, and another at the 'boss fight' with the general lol...that was relli an epic fight scene with ip man overpowering the general...a perfect definition for pwning lol...

awesome piece of anime movie!!!the story is set in modern day japan with some magical stuff going on in the oceans. the animation was handdrawn which was very cool coz if im ntwrong most anime nowadaes are not. the background music was great as well...overall, an excellent movie

Twilight has a fantasy story set in a modern setting. something to do with vampires...the guy in the poster is the vampire...well...a good vampire...whu tries to control his urge to suck the girl's blood lol...ok inoe there are lots of twilight fans out there...but in mi opinion this movie is straying close to the realm of crapness...itink its coz iwatchd this after watchin ponyo lol...but iduntink it would hav made a big difference to the ratings...the book might be better than the movie...
