ok sweet talk, u r vindicated a little
seriously, sweettalk has always been literally too sweet to talk about. usually 2 scoops of crappy syrup is added for their bubble tea.
today i saw this new drink they have called green apple milk shake, so i ordered one with less sugar, thinking that they will only use one scoop of that crappy syrup.
so the staff went ahead and prepared one scoop of green apple and was going to put in another when i reminded her again i wanted less sugar
and she asked whether i want the fresh version. "huh!? ok" whatever that is
she took an apple from the fridge. AN APPLE! one scoop milk powder, ice cubes and water into the blender.
great stuff. its like fresh fruit juice! the milkshake part wasnt obvious though, probably could request for more next time.
its not amazing, but good enough, and the flavour of this drink is refreshing, for sweettalk.

Venice of Punggol!
was what the newspaper called this new man-made waterway in Punggol! Its not fully completed yet...this part of the park is near the MRT (or LRT) station. There's a cycling route and waterways for the moment and I think they might be extending them to the shore.

Overall it should be a good place to get some fresh air and relax! It is less likely to be overcrowded since its at Punggol which is the farthest stop in NEL.

Blog Entrance Poster or whatever its called
I'm considering making a Blog Entrance Poster (or whatever its called) for this blog. A lot of the more popular blogs have it. Could this mean having a poster will make your blog popular?
![]() |
| Mr B**** |
Probably the most famous Singaporean blogger, he was there when the blogging craze was "in". He has a simple poster there, just a horizontal banner. Gives quite a sporty impression at first, like its for a cycling blog.
![]() |
| X***** |
She's probably another blogger that comes to mind when you think of SG bloggers. Nice girly poster that covers the whole screen when you enter the blog. She has good photoshop skills too.
![]() |
| D*** Y*** |
Given that "correlation is not equal to causation", its not yet proven that having a blog poster/banner will increase blog views. But its no harm giving it a try. A nice poster could glam up a blog, just like those ads (maybe not).
But I don't want something flashy...maybe just something nice...guess I might have to do some design work then.
Also, plans to sort out my pics from Europe which is about 7000 pics or more. Maybe can start a travel blog after that!

There was this French Marche fair thingy going on at level 1. btw marche is french for market. As usual I like to grab some free samples XD tried some jam which was quite sweet. On another visit to this French Marche I tried some olive tapenades which is sort of like bread dips, and which tasted quite good! The marche sold other stuff too such as absinthe :O and spoons :S
If you like French stuff (especially food), you might want to head over to Plaza Sing to check this out!

Ultimate Ramen Champion! Episode 3: Ikkousha Ramen
Episode 3: Ikkousha Ramen
Noodles: 9/10 slim and smooth noodles, right out of the textbook, small serving
Meat and Egg: 5/10 meat was basic, slightly below expectation, but egg was better
Soup: 11.5/10 EPIC!!!!!1
Service: 8/10 rather fast and no fuss
Overall: 8.5/10
Quick links here to the other blogposts in the Ultimate Ramen Champion! series

Ultimate Ramen Champion! Episode 1: Bario Ramen!
Ultimate Ramen Champion! Episode 2: Gantetsu Ramen!
Was back at Iluma for another round of Ultimate Ramen Champion during office lunch hours! This time Ikkousha Ramen is put to the test. I wanted to try this stall as I remembered the first time I ate at Ultimate Ramen Champion this stall (which is located beside Bario) this stall had already sold out their menu while I was queuing for.
Here's a picture of their main ramen! Its called the Hakata Ajitama Ramen.
![]() |
| THICK SOUPZ |
Slim and smooth noodles yeah! This could really be right out of a noodle textbook! My advice is to go for the large bowl as it seemed more like normal serving to me. Two words to describe this type of noodle - Just Nice. To be exact, normal serving has 100g of noodles and large has 150g.
Meat and Egg
ONLY TWO SLICES OF MEAT!? SERIOUSLY? Bario has FIVE! Not like the meat is that nice too. Its adequate but far from amazing, and slightly on the hard side. You could probably find pork of the same quality in a hawker centre. The egg was much better. Overall, the ingredients were below expectation.
Soup
DAM NICE! This soup reminds me of the thick mushroom soup that Marche has (imo one of the better mushroom soups. sry but i don't like those light and creamy type). I've got no idea what they put into the soup, as the ingredients are prepared far from the counter. But the taste is strong and full, and there's a good base of pork that you can deduce from the soup. It has a thick texture as well. Definitely on par with Bario's soup. Both are good, but in different ways.
Service
The preparation was fast. I think I've waited no longer than a few minutes for my ramen.
Here's a picture of the restaurant chef, acting LIKE A BOZ! But the chefs were all not there that day, probably at the new outlet in Changi Airport?
![]() |
| LIKE A BOZ! |
Overall, this stall is recommended if you want to try some really nice and thick ramen soup and good noodles. If you want something more filling, stick with Bario.

Epic Shark's Fin Soup
Warning: If you are against consumption of Shark's Fin please stop reading NOW. If youre not then scroll down abit...
scroll down somemore...
super thick soup! at first i thought it was cabbage soup, theres so much cabbage in it!...but the taste was so thick and awesome it CANT POSSIBLY BE CABBAGE RIGHT!? the soup comes with chicken inside which still contained some flavour...which means probably the soup did not reach its full potential, or the chef did not want the chicken to overpower the whole soup.
took the pic only when the soup was almost finished...i seriously thought it was cabbage at first.

100 TWITTER FOLLOWER MILESTONE ACHIEVEMENT REACHED!
So I was slacking at McDonalds 830am (COZ IM EARLY) waiting to go client's and checked Twitter and realised I've got 100 followers!
Lets do some ratio analysis. I have 127 followings and 100 followers which works out to 1.27 followings per follower. What does this mean? Maybe I will 'follow' someone who has 'followed' me back. But then how do you explain the extra followings? Probably due to news sites. Ok makes sense.
I have 464 tweets, which works out to 4.64 tweets per followers. What does this mean? Technically it might mean every follower reads only four of my tweets. But thats quite nonsense. Maybe we can say for every follower I have tweeted 4.64 times. I think this is quite a low number? But that makes sense too as I don't really tweet alot.

Epic Meal Time: Mad Jack: Blue Mountain Burger
MAD JACK: BEEF BURGERS
3-layer hand-made patty: 8/10
5-layer Blue Mountain epic: 8.5/10
Mixed Berry Shake: 9/10
So bro and i were at NEX eating dinner. Decided on Mad Jack to try out some crazy burgers. Beefy choices. He ordered the three-patty beef burger. Hand-made patties REALLY take a long time to make. Tried some berry good berry shake (pure) while waiting.
Finally the burgers arrived! The three-patty one first.
![]() |
| With a satay stick to keep it in place. |
Wow nice! Three layers of hand-made wonderfully soft textured beef patties. Tomato, pineapple, cheese and sesame seed bun. Great stuff.
Waited a bit longer for my burger. I ordered the Blue Mountain five patty one.
![]() |
| With TWO FLAGS to keep it ALL in place. |
One thing better than three-layered hand-made wonderfully soft textured beef patties is FIVE LAYERS of hand-made wonderfully soft textured beef patties. Definitely more of a challenge to eat, in a good way. As soon as you remove the flags, you had to put it back in. A good idea is to split the burger into two stacks and eat layer by layer.
The patties are thick yet soft! And juicy hot coz its freshly made when ordered.
![]() |
| Oh yeah! Conquering the BLUE MOUNTAIN! Look at that SAUCE BAUCE (boss) |
Great burger to try when you're hungry. Tip: save the drink till u finish the burger.

Took a nice photo! Solid lines from the wall and pillars in the foreground run perpendicular diagonally to the ceiling grid. Multiple chandeliers curve inwards at different scales. The bright lights contrast nicely with the neutral tones in the background.

Episode 2: Gantetsu Ramen
Noodles: 9/10 just the right texture
Meat and Egg: 7/10 meat is good, but egg can be improved

Overall: 8/10

Ultimate Ramen Champion! Episode 1: Bario Ramen!
Gantetsu Ramen! From the city of Sapporo in Hokkaido!
This store can be easily located as it is just beside the queuing area before you receive the Marche-style food credit card at the entrance. Gantetsu is (like the other five ramen stalls) a very famous ramen restaurant in Hokkaido.
The chef himself will be present at the stall preparing ramen along with his helpers! He doesn't interact with the customers. However I think the cashier is a SG aunty which subtracts from the "Jap-ness" of the stall. The previous stall I blogged about, Bario, was, I believe, fully staffed by Japanese helpers.
Not much of a queue at this stall, and the cooking process is not easily observable unless you loiter around the storefront. You order and take a semi-transparent wireless beeping device back to your seat and wait for the food to be ready.
The noodles are excellent with just the right texture! Noodles should be done this way or better! Its bouncy and smooth, with just enough quantity to be filling.

The noodles are excellent with just the right texture! Noodles should be done this way or better! Its bouncy and smooth, with just enough quantity to be filling.
The soup tastes good! It comes in a slightly heavy yellow gold colour. I believe there is butter added to the soup which gives it a nice smell but without overpowering the entire soup. Some online comments on the Ramen Champion facebook page claims that the Gantetsu soup is salty, and also because its from Hokkaido where saltier soups are preferred due to the cold weather. Not too sure about that but I don't find it salty, but buttery.
The pork meat that comes with the ramen is good too! It might be that the butter from the soup infused with the meat. The egg however needs improvement, as the yolk was more than slightly hardened, sign of an overcooked egg.
Overall, this is definitely a must-try if you like nice ramen noodles! In addition, the buttery feel of the whole ramen is smooth and good, but somehow you wouldn't feel tired of the butter even after finishing the meal.

iPhone 4S and Pre-sentient AIs
ok so iPhone 4S was released and Apple's share price took an immediate 4% dive. Finance theories would say the new product fell short of investor expectations. 4S was an improvement over the previous iPhone, but apparently not transformative and "ground-breaking" enough.
One thing is innovative though. Siri, the iPhone's residential AI, will respond to voice commands and even help you do stuff on your phone.
A funny theory circulating on the web right now:
Quoting two paragraphs from this article
"If you're wondering, 'Siri' can be pronounced two ways: 'Skynet' and 'GLaDOS," wrote Twitter user @AshleyEsqueda.
Apple Vice-President Forstall asked SIri: "Who are you?". Siri's answer? "I am a humble personal assistant."
What if SIri is actually smarter than we think? no wonder Siri was trending on Twitter. Powerful AIs bent on global domination always start off humble and harmless (as seen in movies).
As an Android user, it would be cool to have an Android AI as well! The phones are all "droids" afterall lol
Will you buy an iPhone 4S? Because of the better camera/processor etc or because of Siri's cool factor? Also, do you have any more funny theories on Siri? Put it in the comments section below!

The 7th Stage of Evolution on Earth?
The next ramen review will be up soon! In the meantime, you can read the first two episodes here
1. From the origin of life to the ”Last Common Ancestor"
2. Prokaryote diversification
3. Unicellular eukaryote diversification
4. Multicellularity
5. Invasion of the land
6. Appearance of intelligence and technology."
Just read an interesting article on The Daily Galaxy (link here) about whether the human race is entering a "7th stage of evolution.
As quoted from the website: "Milan Ćirković of the Astronomical Observatory of Belgrade, and one of the world's leading authorities on astrobiology and the evolution of galaxies and baryonic dark matter, has outlined along with philosopher Robert Bradbury the six great mega-trajectories of the biological evolution on Earth:
1. From the origin of life to the ”Last Common Ancestor"
2. Prokaryote diversification
3. Unicellular eukaryote diversification
4. Multicellularity
5. Invasion of the land
6. Appearance of intelligence and technology."
The article states that the next stage of evolution will be triggered by the "emergence of artificial intelligence". There are some who believe that technology and culture has slowed human evolution, possibly due to a reduced need for physical changes. However the article states that a new study estimates that the rate of evolution in the past 5000 years is more rapid than other periods of evolution, pointing to population size as a main factor.
Ok thats great, but the question is how will the emergence of artificial intelligence affect human evolution? Will population size still remain a factor in deciding rate of evolution? share your opinions in the comment section below!

Ultimate Ramen Champion! Episode 1: Bario Ramen
Episode 1: Bario Ramen
Noodles: 8/10 really unique noodles and very filling
Meat and Egg and Sprouts: 8/10 meat is good, using sprouts is innovative
Soup: 12/10 EPIC!!!!!1
Service: 8.5/10 would have a higher score but waiting time is long
Overall: 9.5/10
The storefront proudly proclaims Bario as three time consecutive winner of the no.1 ramen in Tokyo! We shall find out why soon. The boss of Bario is so friendly and enthusiastic in his work and when talking to customers I feel that this deserves some kind of prize as well.
While waiting in the super long queue (ramen are prepared in batches), you can observe how the ramen are prepared. It is a complicated process. First, a small layer of some kind of dark sauce is added. Then some kind of soft meat or dunno what is grinded out with a sieve and distributed among the bowls. Then a layer of soup. Noodles. More soft meat which might be different from the first round. Another layer of soup (which I really believe is another type of soup). Finally finishing move with LOTS OF SPROUTS and the pork and egg. I might have described this process wrongly so correct me if it is.
This complicated soup preparation is really impressive and makes you go "CANT WAIT FOR DA SOUPZ!!"

Outside the storefront, theres a signage that says "1 scoop garlic = nice guy, 2 scoops = something but i forgot and will check it out soon, 3 scoops = SUPER BARIO" Therefore I put three scoops in.
Please don't be so crazy to add 3 spoonfuls of garlic! I took some out afterwards!
This is actually a huge bowl of ramen. the noodles are thick and chewy and can almost fill up the whole bowl. Extra generous servings of crunchy sprouts nearly double the height of the dish. The pork comes juicy and in three thick slices. The egg is standard ramen-style hard-boiled with soft yolk done correctly.
But the main crazy stuff is the soup! omg its hard to describe. the soup looks like clear transparent soup but you can see meat bits suspended in the soup. Instead of tasting like light clear soup there is some element of heaviness which i think is due to the meat bits and the dark sauce. The taste is so unique and awesome every drop of soup is PURE GOLD.
Around two-thirds through eating this I start to feel quite full (due to the thick noodles) but the soup remains as appetizing as ever. Advice to those who cant eat much is to order the half-bowl of ramen. I think this is the only stall in Ramen Champion that offers half-bowl (obviously the chef knows about the huge volume of his dish lol)
Combine the noodle, soup, meat, egg, sprouts, waiting in line and watching the preparation and the excellent service, the sum of it all is greater than its parts. Overall, the whole ramen experience can be aptly described as EPIC.
However, eating this stall first had set a very high benchmark for the other five stalls to compare against.
Check back this blog for more updates and reviews on Ramen Champion!

Ultimate Ramen Champion! Prologue

| Ramen Champion! 6 famous restaurants from Japan battle it out for your votes! |
"What? That's boring" you might say. But I tell you these are not just any six ramen stalls. These ramen chefs come from different parts of Japan, and are here to battle it out among themselves.
The thing that makes this restaurant stand out is that diners vote for their favourite restaurant after eating. This makes you feel like you are participating in a cooking gameshow/competition of sorts. You also stand to win prizes from voting, although i don't really care about this. The concept of the restaurant is what interests me.
These ramen (at such a high level of standard and fame) are also quite value for money, pricing being around $10 to $15 per bowl. This REALLY puts some ramen restaurants here to shame. (Ajisen ramen...and especially Ippudo which seriously looks overpriced now with their miserable serving size)
| 6 famous Ramen stalls from Japan! |
The six stalls are (you might have heard of them before if you have been in Japan):
1. IROHA from Toyama serving Toyama Black Ramen - Champion Ramen chain in Toyama
2. BARIO from Tokyo serving Bario Ramen - Listed 50 best things to eat in the world by The Guardian UK
3. GANTETSU from Sapporo serving Special Miso Ramen - A strong contender hailing from Japan’s city of Ramen
4. TETSU from Tokyo serving Paitan Tsukeman Ramen - Listed as best Tsukeman Ramen by Tokyo Times
5. IKKOUSHA from Hakata serving Hakata Ajitama Ramen - One of the most celebrated Ramen restaurants of Fukuoka
6. TAISHOKEN from Tokyo serving Mori Soba - One of the most famous Ramen shops in the world
2. BARIO from Tokyo serving Bario Ramen - Listed 50 best things to eat in the world by The Guardian UK

(stall listing and description from mynewsdesk)
Ramen Champion is located in Iluma at Bugis. Yes there's KOI there which would make for some nice dessert to follow the ramen.
