Audit Adventures

Was out yesterday on a solo mission at International Business Park for a half-day statutory review. Corporate secretary in Jurong!? yeah! Massive jam on PIE but still managed to reach on time. The building was German Centre which has a really nice lobby. There is TCC too!

Nice lobby! Platforms on water.
The corridor of offices. Like a very high tech place eh! Big toilet signs at the end of the corridor.

Huge toilet signage!
Cabbed to Raffles Place after that for lunch. A drizzle became heavy rain, and we camped out at DBS building Starbucks to chill out.

Nice photo!
Took a nice photo! Solid lines from the wall and pillars in the foreground run perpendicular diagonally to the ceiling grid. Multiple chandeliers curve inwards at different scales. The bright lights contrast nicely with the neutral tones in the background.

Btw signed up for an impromptu company flag day event. You might catch me around Raffles Place!

Audit Adventures

Next-level food stockpile
What happens when the client has no pantry!? The closest thing to a pantry here is the office-grade distilled water tank with red and blue dispensing tabular switches device...and a kitchen sink.

Time for some next-level auditor food stockpiling. All these loot! Bought at the discount store. Kopiko ($1) for fun, Snickers pack of 8 ($2) for some choco kick, and Sesame Oat biscuits ($2) to act yi ge high fibre. (Sesame Oat cookies, more like)

btw Woodlands has nice bah ku teh stalls.

Oh yeah...and Mcdonald's cup to store some of that water

Audit Adventures

In Woodlands now! Day 2 of a two-week audit of this company!

Smart tip - get Mcdonald's free cups to bring to the client's office if you don't want to/are lazy to bring your own water bottle.

Client seems ok too! Seniors now speaking in some Audit mambo-lingo vocabulary. Shall wait for instructions lol

Ultimate Ramen Champion! Episode 2: Gantetsu Ramen

Episode 2: Gantetsu Ramen

Noodles: 9/10 just the right texture
Meat and Egg: 7/10 meat is good, but egg can be improved
Soup: 8/10 butter corn ramen soup!
Service: 6/10 service is basic
Overall: 8/10

Quick links here to the previous blogposts in the Ultimate Ramen Champion! series

Ultimate Ramen Champion! Episode 1: Bario Ramen!

Gantetsu Ramen! Smooth and buttery! Nice pork too!
Gantetsu Ramen! From the city of Sapporo in Hokkaido!

This store can be easily located as it is just beside the queuing area before you receive the Marche-style food credit card at the entrance. Gantetsu is (like the other five ramen stalls) a very famous ramen restaurant in Hokkaido.

The chef himself will be present at the stall preparing ramen along with his helpers! He doesn't interact with the customers. However I think the cashier is a SG aunty which subtracts from the "Jap-ness" of the stall. The previous stall I blogged about, Bario, was, I believe, fully staffed by Japanese helpers.

Not much of a queue at this stall, and the cooking process is not easily observable unless you loiter around the storefront. You order and take a semi-transparent wireless beeping device back to your seat and wait for the food to be ready.

Gantetsu Ramen! Bringing the taste of Hokkaido ramen to Iluma!

The noodles are excellent with just the right texture! Noodles should be done this way or better! Its bouncy and smooth, with just enough quantity to be filling.

The soup tastes good! It comes in a slightly heavy yellow gold colour. I believe there is butter added to the soup which gives it a nice smell but without overpowering the entire soup. Some online comments on the Ramen Champion facebook page claims that the Gantetsu soup is salty, and also because its from Hokkaido where saltier soups are preferred due to the cold weather. Not too sure about that but I don't find it salty, but buttery.

The pork meat that comes with the ramen is good too! It might be that the butter from the soup infused with the meat. The egg however needs improvement, as the yolk was more than slightly hardened, sign of an overcooked egg.

Overall, this is definitely a must-try if you like nice ramen noodles! In addition, the buttery feel of the whole ramen is smooth and good, but somehow you wouldn't feel tired of the butter even after finishing the meal.

Keep checking back for more reviews on Ultimate Ramen Champion!

HLB LVL22

At a meeting room now! Still a security guard. Nice scenery here! The overlapping buildings make for good composition exercises. This is real photo blogging lol

Shenton House on the left! The building with nice reflecting orange glass panels. Used soft focus for a dreamy feel.
Lau Pa Sat! What a landmark! Especially from the top. The radial lines of the roof focus attention to the clocktower. The diagonal road adds dynamism. Round tables accent the whole composition.
80rr! where i was yesterdae! some reddish light leak to spice up the pic.
Citibank building!
Another landscaped pic!

Can't wait for lunch!

iPhone 4S and Pre-sentient AIs

ok so iPhone 4S was released and Apple's share price took an immediate 4% dive. Finance theories would say the new product fell short of investor expectations. 4S was an improvement over the previous iPhone, but apparently not transformative and "ground-breaking" enough.

One thing is innovative though. Siri, the iPhone's residential AI, will respond to voice commands and even help you do stuff on your phone.

A funny theory circulating on the web right now:

Quoting two paragraphs from this article

"If you're wondering, 'Siri' can be pronounced two ways: 'Skynet' and 'GLaDOS," wrote Twitter user @AshleyEsqueda.

Apple Vice-President Forstall asked SIri: "Who are you?". Siri's answer? "I am a humble personal assistant."

What if SIri is actually smarter than we think? no wonder Siri was trending on Twitter. Powerful AIs bent on global domination always start off humble and harmless (as seen in movies).

As an Android user, it would be cool to have an Android AI as well! The phones are all "droids" afterall lol

Will you buy an iPhone 4S? Because of the better camera/processor etc or because of Siri's cool factor? Also, do you have any more funny theories on Siri? Put it in the comments section below!
